I have suffered from migraines for years. They are fairly uncommon now (2-4 a year) but they used to hit me several times a month and even weekly. I have no idea what is the trigger for them but I suspect it is environmental and not food related.

Mine have always had the associated vision issues you discuss (along with extreme sensitivity to light, sounds, and smells). I completely understand the horror you experience.

I don't know if you have distinct warnings that a migraine is coming on -- I can tell if they are coming well before they hit me -- but if you can, make sure you get home or someplace safe as soon as possible. When I was younger, I managed to wrap a truck around a tree while attempting to drive when a migraine was coming on. When my vision went, I couldn't manage to stop the truck. It could have been much worse.

So, if you have these symptoms... please make sure you arrange a ride for yourself if one is coming on.

I need to give up the diet soda myself. It's my one big addiction right now. A waste of money and a drain on my health.

Glad to see that you're okay. I've been away for a while myself. I think you might be sensitive to the artifical sugars in the diet soda and/or the caffeine. Personally, I can't drink a full can of diet soda without getting headache nor can I have any "diet" beverage or products with Nutra Sweet.

Glad to know it's nothing crazy!

Glad everything checked out for you! I too have had trouble dealing with the diet soda issue. I quit drinking caffeinated diet soda 6 weeks ago and the first three days were the worst ever. My headaches lasted for hours, and like you said, with very little relief from Tylenol. I did not experience any vision problems thankfully. On the fourth of July, I went out to eat with my mom and got a diet pepsi, not even thinking about the caffeine part, and boy did I regret it!

I have come to realize that something that gives me such horrible side effects from quitting shouldn't enter my body anyway. It's still a struggle because I love soda!

Question since you said you did some research: Is it just the caffeine or is it also the soda that is bad for you?
