Plasectomy!

Life After Plastic

Pizza Delivery Day Three

Three Days of driving for the plasectomy

I spent last Sunday, like I will this coming Sunday delivering pizza. Maybe it is the old saying the third time is the charm because it was my highest day for tips yet. I ran less deliveries than the other two days, but made more money. It’s still not as lucrative as I would hope it would be. I have to say listening to Dave Ramsey and from my own previous experience I thought it would average out to be around $12-14 hour in wages. Realistically it is more $8-9 an hour. I am sure if they were getting more delivery orders it would be, but that so far is not the case. Is it the economy? The day I work? The weather? I don’t know and neither does the manager I work with. He says they are usually much busier than it is.

Pizza Delivery Day Two

Two days down, no end in sight.

Sunday was my second time working back at my old local pizza shop as a delivery driver. As opposed to last time. I had an enormous plus and that was I did not have to take care of the dumpster out back. I am so glad I didn’t have to do this. I pulled up and there was the giant green monster of a garbage bin, you know the one made of solid steel, just overflowing with rotting leftover food, wet cardboard boxes, giant plastic gallons full of old grease, and empty plastic drink cups from the pub and a bar connected to the same building. The owner of pizza shop also owns the pub and bar. I expected to walk and be told to start out back and beginning picking up, but not this week. This week there was a delivery waiting, calling my name to drive a couple blocks down to a senior citizen apartment building to deliver two toasty bagels with cream cheese, it was ten in the morning with a $1.00 tip.

Finally, It Is Finished, The Gas Guzzler That Is

I met the buyer Saturday morning and things went off without a hitch. We drove about 30 miles north of where we lived to drop off the vehicle at his home. He handed me the money, signed the papers and we left. It was such a great feeling to drive away and leave that SUV there. This ordeal had been going on for about a month now and it is over! Yesterday I deposited the money and immediately went and submitted my payment to the remaining credit card company. This brings our total credit card debt down to $3,509.34. That is a far cry from the $17,000 we started with at the beginning of the year. Unfortunately though I don’t foresee any more big wins to accelerate the remaining amount. It is now down to hard work and more work. I anticipate being able to another $200 a month towards this card on top of our existing payment of $100 a month.

Where Have I Been?

Well, it has been about a week since my last post, where have I been? I have been somewhat busy with the past week from Easter Sunday, trying to work overtime, children sick, tracking down the buyer for my vehicle, and finding out when I am supposed to deliver pizza for the plasectomy.

Dropping The Weight.

Tomorrow should be the day that the SUV is finally gone from our lives, so happy. We received the title in the mail yesterday as a complete surprise to us. The title officer at Suntrust bank said it would be two weeks until he receives it and instead we received it one week after speaking with him about it. Amazing! I didn’t think it would happen that fast and I was in fear of losing the buyer by this delay. Thankfully I am arranging to meet with the buyer tomorrow morning to do the exchange.
